Today we will talk about texture.  Texture is about surfaces that are facing different directions and because of that they catch the light differently.  To demonstrate that, I want to show you these two white panels which are identical in the light and they look the same.  Watch what happens if I lift this one up so that it catches more light, see how much brighter it is.  I use this all the time in my work and here is a little bit on an exagerated texture, look how much brighter that is than the background.  That is because it sticks out and catches more light.
